Mad Max is back!!!!

The Secret Compass crew went to see the first advanced showing of the new Mad Max movie that screened in Fort Collins last night and I was really happy with how this turned out. As a huge Mad Max fan, I have waited 30 years for this film! Before I start, Id like to share a few points regarding the production of Fury Road. -Mad Max: Fury Road is not a 4 th installment in the franchise. It is not a continuation of what takes place after Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Its a reboot of the entire story, but this is not your usual run-of-the-mill... Read More

Brand New Poster For The ANT-MAN Movie! Am I the only one who cares?

The official poster for Marvel's Ant-Man was released earlier this morning. It features the titular character surrounded by the rest of the cast ashe looks atsomething over your right shoulder (it's probably the spectre of yoursquandered potential, endlessly hovering behind you as it always does). Based solely on the official trailer that was released a few weeks back, it appears that Marvel will be taking the Guardians Of The Galaxy style action / comedy route with this outing, even going so far as to mentionGOTG in the poster. I can't say... Read More

Rated “R” for Rangers : The Controversy and Success of the “Power/Rangers” Fan Film

Youve probably at least heard mutterings about the recent Power Rangers fan film, the controversial unsanctioned reboot starring James van der Beek and Katee Sackhoff. If you havent heard about it, let us fill you in as briefly as possible: the film is violent . Very violent. Explosions, drugs, guns, and copious amounts of blood abound, making it not only NSFW, but not safe for children either. Titled Power/Rangers, this short film is a major departure from the original tone of the series. Produced by Adi Shankar (of Dredd and A... Read More

Mashups are Awesome.  Batman vs. Darth Vader Shows Us Why.

Who doesnt love a good mashup? Especially when the two supers being mashed up are two of the most epic anti heroes ever: Darth Vader, and Batman. Who would win if the two were forced to duke it out? The ultimate villain, versus the ultimate anti-heroso awesome. First things first, if you havent seen Batman vs. Darth Vader, stop everything and watch it right here, right now. And, if you have seen it, lets be honest its time for a rewatchhere . Right? What is it that makes mashups so satisfying? The idea of mashups goes all the way... Read More

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug

It seems like everyone in the office went to see The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug this weekend except for me. A Winter flu has seriously crippled my ability to do awesome things like seeing movies and eating solid food. Anyway, the general consensus around these parts is that it was "awesome" and "better than the first". Let us know what did you guys thought in the comments if you would, I'm ever so lonely... Also, I found out that I have been pronouncing Smaug incorrectly (it's not "smog", it's "smaowg"), and all of the Tolkien fans that... Read More
